The non surgical nose job uses Hyaluronic Acid fillers injected safely into the nose to reshape, contour, rebalance and correct its aesthetic appearance. Nose fillers are a revelation in medical aesthetics because it’s a fast, non-invasive, considerably safer and much, much cheaper alternative to surgery. In recent years the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic surgeons has reported a significant decline in the number of surgical nose jobs and this is likely down to the rise of injectable nose reshaping that can achieve truly breathtaking results.

Nose enhancements here at Dr MJ are performed by injecting a small amount of dermal filler into the nose to create straightness and augment the shape, size and symmetry of the nose. The process is more art than science and creating the beautiful results you’ll see in our before and after pictures comes from many years studying the face and how your features interact with one another aesthetically.
Dr MJ Rowland-Warmann is a master of dermal fillers and can use one or a combination of products over time to produce the perfect results that so frequently delight her patients. Your filler injections will last between 12 months and up to three years depending on your body, how it responds to the fillers and which fillers you choose.
Here at Dr MJ we use either Juvederm Voluma or Ellanse M fillers.
Juvederm Voluma is a hyaluronic acid filler that lasts 15-18 months in the nose. Dr Rowland-Warmann loves voluma because it contains anaesthetic that makes the procedure more comfortable for the patient.
Voluma also possesses excellent flow properties that make it a dream to use from a professional standpoint.
Ellanse M is a newer product on the market and is made of Polycaprolactone. This filler takes longer to be absorbed by the body and sticks around in the tissues for between 18 months and 3 years. Some patients prefer this option because it lasts longer.
Both fillers cost £600 but Juvederm is reversible so the risk profile of the two products is different. You can read about risks in the next section, ‘are nose injections safe’.
Compared with surgical rhinoplasty, the non surgical option has a significantly reduced risk. There is no general anaesthetic, no use of scalpels and the fillers are placed with a cannula.
Surgical nose augmentation is an extremely invasive procedure and videos are available on youtube of the seemingly violent way these procedures are carried out. The instruments look like a hammer and chisel and the nose is broken, smashed and shaved to create the aesthetic look patients desire. Obviously you are under general anaesthetic so will not feel a thing.
However, general anaesthetic is dangerous in itself with people dying each year from complications of routine cosmetic surgery. That said, relative to other medical aesthetic procedures, the non surgical rhinoplasty should be considered high risk. This means that it carries higher risks than lip augmentation, many types of filler and Botox® treatment.
Juvederm is technically safer in the nose as the filler can be reversed in the rare event of problems occurring. Some patients prefer this to the longer lasting Ellanse which is not considered reversible. Incidentally, we have never encountered any serious complications with either filler but must inform you of the facts.
The principal risk associate with this treatment is injecting into a vein or artery and ‘occluding’ or blocking it. At Dr MJ we use ultrasound guided injection where a handheld ultrasound device sees beneath the skin to where the veins and arteries are. This allows us to inject with a higher degree of safety and precision. This is included in the price for this treatment.

Both Ellanse and Juvederm are placed with a blunt cannula. This is a blunt needle that is used by making a tiny hole in the skin with a normal needle and threading the cannula through the tissues. Rather than cutting through vessels and tissue, the blunt cannula painlessly bumps around your internal structures causing little or no damage.
It sounds painful but it’s far less painful than a needle. Our First Officer will tell you all about this because he’s had the procedure himself and was amazed at how painless it was. Cannula use is an advanced and specialised facial aesthetic skill and here at Smileworks we believe that non surgical nose reshaping should always be conducted with a cannula to make the procedure as safe as possible. This also impacts the healing time and swelling following the procedure making it more comfortable for the patient.
Patients must be carefully selected for this treatment in order to get the best results. Adding dermal fillers to the nose and reshaping can only add volume and not take it away. So if you want a smaller nose then the procedure must be carefully considered. The only way to know is to come in for an appointment.
Patients are usually surprised that their problems can be fixed and the aesthetic relationship of the features can be augmented effectively to give the illusion of a smaller, straighter nose by actually adding filler in adjacent areas of the face. Firstly, you will make an appointment for a consultation to see Dr Rowland-Warmann, our master aesthetician. A topical aesthetic is applied to the treated area following your consultation and you will fill out all the forms as we prepare the surgery and materials.
The procedure is then started by making tiny holes in either the bridge or base of the nose with a needle. You will not even feel this because of the anaesthetic. Depending on how you feel we mad add more anaesthetic to completely numb the entire area.
Then the filler is added by squeezing it carefully through the cannula into the tissues. The procedure is started and because you are awake you can watch and see how your nose is affected by treatment. The procedure takes about 20 minutes and then you simply put some ice on the affected area to reduce swelling.
The results are visible immediately and this is your time to really see the result and make sure you are 100% happy. If you are not, more filler can be added or different approaches can be taken. Here at Smileworks we have never had a patient who was not overjoyed at this stage in the process!
You will want to go home and can drive yourself or travel alone because the anaesthetic does not affect you other than to numb your face. It’s a good idea to use ice packs to reduce any swelling and you will be booked in for a two week review appointment where we can take more photos of you and marvel at the wonderful results.
Book NowThe risks are swelling, bruising and in some very rare cases blindness. The nose contains vessels that drain into the eye and if filler gets into them this can cause blindness. There have (thankfully) been no cases of blindness in the UK but your aesthetician is aware of all the dangers and will manage them accordingly and inform you of the risks.

No, there will be minimal bruising and swelling due to the use of a blunt cannula and you will be able to cover up any small bruises with makeup.
It’s not recommended to wear your glasses for a few days as they will irritate the treated area. After a the healing process has completed in a week or so you can wear your glasses again.
Yes you can drive home. The local anesthetic will not affect your ability to drive.
Depending on the type of nose fillers used, your treatment can last between 12 months and 3 years. Patients have reported it lasting for even longer with some products.
No – unlike a surgical rhinoplasty, your airway is not affected at all and there is no risk to the way you speak or breathe as with a surgical procedure.
There may be some swelling and bruising depending on how you respond to the filler and to treatment. However, this is dramatically reduced compared with a surgical nose job.
